Google Workspace Results

Making modern working workflows feel like second nature

  • Empowers 550 global employees to collaborate asynchronously from across four time zones

  • Instills a sense of collective ownership with real-time collaboration on Google Docs

  • Helps distributed operations run smoothly by uniting offices and frontline workers on one suite of integrated tools

It might seem like a simple task, but finding a bra that actually fits can make buying lingerie online a challenge. In 2011, Adore Me was founded to make the process more seamless for women.

In 2013, the company became the first to push for inclusive sizing in the lingerie industry, increasing the complexity of its logistics by stocking a very wide size range of products. In 2017, it launched a wholly owned logistics center and pioneered a try-at-home shopping service. Adore Me also recently became the first Certified B Corp lingerie company in the U.S., with a model that brings affordable, sustainable clothing to customers of all shapes, sizes, and spending abilities.

The success of these initiatives was based on Adore Me’s use of technology to work as a closely knit team, despite being a distributed organization from the start. The founding team was split between New York and Bucharest, and now more than 550 global employees of 24 nationalities collaborate across four time zones using Google Workspace

“Growing as a distributed company means Google Workspace is in our communication fabric. Modern working patterns feel very natural to us. Our watercooler conversations have often happened on Google Meet,” says Bogdan Lucaciu, CTO at Adore Me.

Global collaboration and productivity made easy

“Growing as a distributed company means Google Workspace is in our communication fabric. Modern working patterns feel very natural to us. Our watercooler conversations have always happened on Google Chat.” - Bogdan Lucaciu, CTO, Adore Me

“Today, Google Workspace is as integral to life at Adore Me as computers or desks,” adds Chloe Chanudet, Chief Marketing Officer at Adore Me. “Joining virtual meetings on Google Meet and being able to collaborate asynchronously via Google Slides are foundational to our operations.”

Meetings are often conducted in a Google Slides deck. If needed, the team collaborates after the call by assigning team members different slides until it all comes together in a distributed way.

“At this point, we take the productivity enabled by these tools for granted,” says Ranjan Roy, VP of Strategy at Adore Me. “But its benefits come back into focus every time we work with an external partner who is still versioning a downloaded document that gets sent back and forth.”

A newer addition to the company’s stack is Google Meet hardware, introduced during the pandemic to Adore Me office rooms designed for meetings. With a few clicks, global colleagues can now have a same-room experience with people in Adore Me offices in any of the company’s locations.

Better together, from HQ to frontline distribution centers

“Today, Google Workspace is as integral to life at Adore Me as computers or desks. Joining virtual meetings on Google Meet and being able to collaborate asynchronously via Google Slides are foundational to our operations.” - Chloe Chanudet, Chief Marketing Officer, Adore Me

Adore Me is a data-driven, direct-to-consumer company. When it opened its first distribution center, it started to build Google Slides presentations, with 20 to 30 slides each, to share at weekly supply chain meetings. It was important for the company to share data analysis, KPIs, and dashboards circulating within its offices with frontline workers. This way, everyone is aligned on priorities and processes, working efficiently and with clarity towards a common goal.

Initially, the company looked at automating the creation of assets such as dashboards, reports, and KPIs designed to inform and support frontline workers, using Google Data Studio. It ultimately concluded that the presentations benefited from more context, so Adore Me extracted information for the presentations from a manually populated spreadsheet on Google Sheets. “10 minutes per week of work on a spreadsheet give the presentations a human touch, while the rest is automatically generated using Google Data Studio,” explains Lucaciu. “This was a simple solution that still brings a lot of insights and value to frontline operations.”

Now, Adore Me has two wholly-owned fulfillment centers, and the 180 people working there are well-connected with the global offices. “Every Adore Me employee has a Google Workspace account, and we use Google Meet to enable all staff to participate in company-wide meetings, which helps to keep everyone on equal footing,” says Roy.

The result is a sense of inclusivity in decision-making, and more opportunities to foster creativity. Adore Me’s corporate culture encourages co-creation when it comes to anything from guidelines on hybrid work and architecture designs to performance reviews. Any type of document that requires collective input is co-created on Google Workspace, with early efforts drafted in real time. “This way of working instills a sense of collective ownership,” says Lucaciu, “something we’d never achieve by forwarding documents back and forth over email.”

Solving real-world problems to meet customer expectations

“Fulfilling our mission to support every woman requires teamwork to figure out tech solutions to real-world problems. Google Workspace feeds our engineering machinery through all this, from working code to happy customers.” - Bogdan Lucaciu, CTO, Adore Me

Adore Me focuses a lot of its team efforts on understanding what its customers need and what pain points they are facing in order to solve those problems for them. “One element that helps us truly connect with our customers is our strong emphasis on empathy,” explains Lucaciu. “To understand what our customer is thinking and what their struggles are, we conduct many conversations and interviews, and compile our findings into Google Slides.”

Meanwhile, customer challenges are defined in Google Docs, where supporting materials such as notes from interviews, embedded videos of customer conversations, and quantitative information coming from surveys are compiled in documents. The use of smart canvas is helping to make workflows and collaboration more seamless. “We use the @-mention function a lot to work async on those Docs,” says Lucaciu.

Based on these insights, Adore Me plans and builds software products that continuously improve the customer experience. “Fulfilling our mission to support every woman requires teamwork to figure out tech solutions to real-world problems. Google Workspace feeds our engineering machinery through all this, from working code to happy customers,” says Lucacio.

Meanwhile, the company is also excited about Generative AI and its ability to quickly create production-worthy copy in Docs and Gmail to accelerate projects and processes. “Traditional Google Workspace tools such as Slides and Docs have empowered our cross-functional, cross-geography, dynamic way of working,” says Roy. “And now, the Generative AI tools available are presenting the next generation of opportunities to work even more effectively in this way.”

But Adore Me has a larger stakeholder group in mind when it designs anything, from products to software solutions. “We’re on a sustainability journey, because we want to leave a better world for our children,” says Lucaciu. “We believe fashion can be a force for good, for everyone.”
